Tales With Teeth
I’ve always believed that a good story should have bite! Not necessarily in the ’crocodile in the public swimming pool‘ scary sense (though the odd creature with a mighty bite will no doubt feature in my stories now and then), but in the sense that the story sticks with you long after the last line on the last page has been read. I’m of course talking about the kind of ‘bite’ that makes kids giggle, grimace, imagine and think, possibly become teary-eyed all whilst often learning about friendships and overcoming challenges perhaps.
My tales are stuffed full of colourful characters, playful rhymes, and more than enough mischief-making to keep young children coming back for more to what is a plentiful supply a smiles and adventure. Whether it’s a tale about a hairy, Highland yeti who feels the cold or a lonely parrot who can’t find friendship because he speaks a language called ‘gobbledegook’ that no one a understand - every story I write is built to delight curious minds, engage adults reading to their young owns and to invite a little wonder into the everyday.
Tales With Teeth is more than just a collection of rag-tag, rhyming stories — it is the Highland home for McDooey, the clumsiest, most kind and in fact only Scottish yeti I know; it’s a place where you’ll meet and laugh with the Jungles, who are Mouse, Monkey, Zebra, Hippo and Elly Elephant; and it’s also my silly place where I can be a kid again and let my imagination run riot - which is exactly what I’ve done with my ‘Inspired by Old Rhymes Rhymes’!
Tales with Teeth is all about sharing that tingle you get when a sentence makes you smile, or when a plot twist makes a child lean in a little closer or grip your arm!
I hope that Tales with Teeth will become a go to place for the young and not so young seeking inspiration and entertainment (for four to eight year olds perhaps), but if nothing else I’d be delighted to know that my stories and my rhymes have made you laugh and hopefully warmed your heart. So do please let me know!
If you’re ready, please do jump in with two big feet and sink your teeth into a tale or two. I promise they won’t bite too hard.
